ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A product, suitable for the removal of heavy metals, transition metals and actinide metals from solution, obtained by reacting an inorganic solid containing surface hydroxyl group with a compound of formula (I) Image -(I) wherein R1, R2 and R3 which may be the same or different are organic radicals, preferably alkyl, containing up to 20 carbon atoms, and n is an integer from 1 to 10, and an aromatic hydroxy aldehyde. The novel product is useful in alleviating problems relating to the removal of heavy metals from organic solutions, such as distillate fuels, in particular automotive gasolines, and relating to the recovery of uranium from solutions reduced in hydrometallurgical processes.
