A novel process for the removal of phosphorous from mammalian milk, preferably bovine skim milk, has been developed. The process involves passage of the milk at an elevated temperature through a Type II macroporous or gel type strong base ion exchange material in the chloride or carbonate form. The weak base anion sites inherent to the ion exchange material have been neutralized. The ion exchange material can easily be regenerated.

Un procédé nouveau a été mis au point pour éliminer le phosphore dans le lait de mammifères, de préférence le lait écrémé de vache. Il consiste à faire passer le lait chauffé à une température élevée à travers une matière échangeuse d'ions à forte basidicité, macroporeuse ou en gel, de Type II, sous la forme de chlorure ou de carbonate. Les sites d'anions de faible basidicité inhérents à la matière échangeuse d'ions ont été neutralisés. La matière échangeuse d'ions peut être facilement régénérée.
