The present invention is concerned with a system for the filtration of molten material. The system is particularly useful for removing MgO impurities present in molten magnesium chloride electrolyte. The invention also comprises a method for removing solid particles from molten materials. Preferred molten materials include magnesium, aluminum, magnesium chloride electrolyte and aluminum electrolyte. The concentration of solid remaining in the molten material is less than 0.05 wt.%.
L'invention se rapporte à un système de filtration d'un matériau fondu. Ledit système est particulièrement utile pour extraire des impuretés de MgO présentes dans un électrolyte de chlorure de magnésium fondu. L'invention concerne également un procédé d'extraction de particules solides de matériaux en fusion. Les matériaux en fusion peuvent être, de préférence, du magnésium, de l'aluminium, un électrolyte de chlorure de magnésium ou un électrolyte d'aluminium. La concentration de particules solides encore présentes dans le matériau en fusion est inférieure à 0,05 % en poids.
