A B S T R A C T A process for the purification of a raffinate phase and/or an extract obtained by extraction of a mixture of organic compounds with a sulfolane-type solvent, which comprises contacting the raffinate phase and/or extract with a solid adsorbent at a temperature of from 10-50°C and regenerating the adsorbent by contacting at a temper- ature of from 60 to 100°C with at least a part of the mixture of organic compounds to be subjected to extraction.
