Abstract of the Invention Process for removing carbon oxysulfide from a gas stream including contacting the gas stream with a scrubbing solution containing copper sulfate buffered to an acidic pH and removing at least some of the copper sulfides produced. The process may be advantageously used to selectively remove COS and, if present, H2S without removal of other acidic gases, particularly CO2.
