Abstract of the Disclosure A method and an article of manufacture useful in the method are provided for removing a fracturable coating, such as concrete, from a conduit, such as an underwater pipeline. According to the method a plurality of spaced explosive detonating cords are placed against the portion of the coating to be removed. Upon detonation of the explosive detonating cords the coating is sufficiently fractured to enable its convenient removal from the con- duit by a diver but the conduit is only very slightly damaged, if at all, by the explosion.
