ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A ruptured steal tube in a hydraulic line which has a flared end received in a threaded coupling nut coupled through a complementary nut to another tube or other fitting is repaired by severing a portion of the tube from a remaining part of the tube at a point beyond the rupture, uncoupling the coupling nut and removing the severed portion of the tube and coupling nut from the line, providing a replacement length of tube of like diameter and length to the severed portion, the replacement length of tube also having a flared end, transferring the coupling nut from the severed portion to the replacement length, and connecting the replacement length of tube into the line by recoupling the coupling nut and affixing the replacement length of tube to the remaining part of the tube at the point of severance by welding or by means of a tube coupling device. Replacement tube lengths and welding sleeves for forming the weld connection may be provided in the form of a kit and the invention is particularly useful in repairing hydraulic lines in farm tractors and the like, in situ, without having to await delivery of replacement tube sections.
