A digging tooth (10) including a body portion (12) and a plurality of hard wear resistant conical inserts (14). The body portion includes a generally planar distal portion (16), a medial portion (18), and a bifurcated proximal portion (20) having at least two prongs (22, 24) separated from each other to form a slot (28). The conical inserts are secured to and spaced along said distal portion and have a generally cylindrical body portion (38) and a top portion (40) which tapers to a point to form a tip (42), wherein the ratio of the diameter of the cylindrical body portion to the spacing distance between the tips of the conical inserts is between 0.50 and 0.80 and, preferably, 0.72.

L'invention se rapporte à une dent de fouille (10) qui se compose d'une partie de corps (12) et de plusieurs couteaux rapportés coniques (14) résistant à l'usure et de consistance dure. Les couteaux rapportés coniques sont fixés de façon espacée le long de la partie distale et comportent une partie de corps généralement cylindrique (38) et une partie supérieure (40) à section transversale décroissant jusqu'à former une pointe terminale (42), le rapport entre le diamètre de la partie de corps cylindrique et la distance séparant deux pointes de couteaux rapportés coniques est compris entre 0,50 et 0,80 et est de préférence égal à 0,72.
