A piston head assembly (10) for reciprocating in a cylinder (12), a gap (25) between the piston and the cylinder being such that the difference in diameters is less than 0.010 inches. The piston includes a flange (11) on which a seal (22) made of polyurethane with a hardness of at least 80 Shore A is removably mounted. The seal includes a lip (24) extending beyond the diameter of the cylinder wall and a heel (23). A bulge (23a) is formed on the heel (23) when the seal is formed in orer to prevent slight depressions from forming around the heel when the seal cools.

Cette invention se rapporte à un ensemble tête de piston (10) conçu pour effectuer un mouvement alternatif dans un cylindre (12), un interstice (25) étant prévu entre le piston et le cylindre de telle sorte que la différence des diamètres est inférieure à 0,010 pouces. Ce piston comporte une bride (11) sur laquelle est monté amovible un joint (22) en polyuréthanne, d'une dureté d'au moins 80 Shore A. Le joint présente une lèvre (24) dépassant du pourtour de la paroi du cylindre et un talon (23).
