A B S T R A C T This invention relates to compounds of the general formula I Image wherein R is a member of the class consisting of hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkenyl and lower alkanoyl and R2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof. These compounds exhibit antihypertensive activity better than known reserpic derivatives. They are prepared by the acylation of corresponding reserpic acid derivatives having a free hydroxyl group at position A.
