A reservoir for holding liquid nutrients in a hydroponic gardening system, comprises an open top container having a central protrusion extending upwardly from a bottom wall of the container for providing support to a growing tray adapted to be seated on top of the container. A cover is removably mounted on the container on one side of the growing tray to prevent light from reaching the liquid nutrients in the reservoir. The cover is molded with compartments for holding nutrients testing devices and other garden tools or the like.
