A RESILIENT-CLAMPING TOASTER Abstract of the Disclosure A carriage is capable of vertical displacement within the toaster frame from a bottom position to a top position in which it receives a slice of bread, the slice being introduced between two clamping grids which are placed between heating means and pivoted to the frame about two parallel axes. A single spring is associated with the two grids for causing them to move naturally away from each other in the top position of the carriage. In the bottom position, the carriage causes downward deformation of the spring for resilient clamping of the slice between the grids after they have been moved towards each other. -1-
