Method and apparatus for producing a resilient packing product from a sheet which comprises: feeding the sheet in a longitudinal direction and cutting the sheet into a plurality of strips. This cutting can be performed by rotating at least two sets of cutting discs. Each of the strips is sequentially folded into a zig-zag shape. The folding step is preferably accomplished by advancing the plurality of strips against a restriction that acts on the strips in such a manner that the natural resilience of the product produces substantially uniform adjacent opposite folds thus causing each of the strips to assume substantially the same zig-zag shape.
