A method of manufacturing a resin impregnated reinforced article includes laying up a permeable reinforcing material on a rigid mold and covering the material with a plurality of semi-rigid, impervious tool segments. Gaps between the tool segments are bridged with couplers disposed between the material and the tool segments. The tool and material are then aealed from the atmosphere with flexible, impervious bagging material and placed under vacuum. Resin is introduced in the bag for impregnating the material with the resin.
