ABSTRACT The invention relates to a complex composition comprising: an ion exchange resin having a backbone of polystyrene, polystyrene cross- linked with divinyl benzene, phenol-formaldehyde condensate, benzene- formaldehyde condensate, polyacrylic acid, polymethacrylic acid, epoxy polyamine, phenolic polyamine or polymerized vinylpyridine; a transition metal which is directly bound either coordinately or ionically to the ion exchange resin; and an organic linking compound which has at least one moiety coordinately bound to the metal and further has at least one moiety which is ionically bound to the ion exchange resin. This compo- sition may be used in hydroformylation, carbonylation, hydrogenation, isomerization, disproportionation, oligomerization and Fischer-Tropsch reactions.
