Resinous microparticles useful in toner for electrophotography which are made of vinyl resin obtained by emulsion polymerization of at least one .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated monomers in the presence of cationic surfactant having an onium salt structure and a polymerization initiator having an amidine or amidine salt structure and whose average particle diameter is in a range of from 0.01 to 1µ, and toner composition comprising toner particles and resinous microparticles as abovementioned are provided.
