A resistance device (20) useful as a thumb or hand exerciser. The device (20) includes an outer member (32) including an axial through bore (34); an inner member (22) received within the through bore (34) and extending out of both its ends; and a friction member (36), such as an elastomer sleeve, immovably mounted on said inner member (22); said friction member (36) being in operable contact with the through bore (34) to provide resistance to relative axial movement between said inner (22) and outer (32) members. The level of resistance may be adjusted by rotating ends (24, 24') of the inner member (22) relative to one another such that the friction member (36) is axially compressed. Stops (30, 30') limit axial travel.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif de résistance (20) utilisé comme outil d'entraînement pour le pouce ou la main. Ce dispositif (20) comprend un élément externe (32) pourvu d'un passage traversant axial (34); un élément interne (22) contenu dans le passage traversant (34) et s'étendant à l'extérieur de ses deux extrémités; un élément de friction (36), tel qu'un manchon en élastomère, monté de manière fixe sur ledit élément interne (22); l'élément de friction (36) étant en contact de fonctionnement avec le passage traversant (34) afin de conférer une certaine résistance au mouvement axial relatif entre lesdits éléments interne (22) et externe (32). Par ailleurs, on peur régler ce niveau de résistance en faisant tourner les extrémités rotatives (24, 24') de l'élément interne (22) l'une par rapport à l'autre, de façon à comprimer axialement l'élément de friction (36). Enfin, des butées (30, 30') limitent le trajet axial.
