ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The specification describes a variable resistor comprising an elongate, substantially planar base plate formed from an electrically insulating material. A resistant element is formed in a zig-zag pattern on one surface of the base plate by depositing thereon a material having a predetermined resist- ivity. An elongate resistance film is formed over the resist- ance element and extends along the central portion thereof, the resistance film being formed from the material having a resistivity higher than that of the material forming the resist- ance element. Finally, a slider having a portion thereof, in sliding contact with the resistance film is adapted to be moved therealong.
