A resistive gas sensor having a WO3 sensing element is especially useful for detection of low concen- trations (1 ppm or less) of ozone in air. The WO3 element is a porous layer (82) with 30 - 60 % porosity and less than 50 micrometre thick, having in general a sufficiently open porous microstructure and high sur- face area to give a satisfactory re- sponse to ozone. The sensor is used for detection of low ozone concen- trations at s working temperature in the range from ambient to 600°C.

Un détecteur résistif de gaz possédant un élément sensible à base de WO3 est en particulier utilisé dans la détection de faibles concentrations (1 ppm ou moins) d'ozone dans l'air. L'élément à base de WO3 est une couche poreuse (82) à porosité comprise 30 et 60 % et d'une épaisseur inférieure à 50 micromètres. Sa microstructure poreuse est en général suffisamment ouverte et sa superficie suffisamment importante pour donner une réponse satisfaisante en présence de l'ozone. Le détecteur est utilisé dans la détection de faibles concentrations d'ozone dans des conditions de températures se situant dans une plage comprise entre la température ambiante et 600 DEG C.
