"RESPIRATORY CONTROL" ABSTRACT The present invention relates to apparatus for relief and treatment of respiratory difficulty. Prior art apparatus is typically complex and expensive and is not well suited for use by a person while going about normal activities. Furthermore, the prior art apparatus typically in- volve mixing of exhaled and inhaled air, leading to contamination of the filtering means. This invention provides a self-contained breathing and filtration apparatus, contained entirely within the mouthpiece, which does not mix the inhaled and exhaled air, and which can be manufactured inexpensively. In the invention a mouthpiece contains two separate air passages with valve means for controlling inflow through one passage and outflow through the other passage, and with provision for including a filter or medication through a replaceable cartridge which is carried within the mouthpiece.
