The invention concerns grout mixes especially for restoration of masonry. A grout mixture containing a flyash as a pozzolan may be formulated to produce a grout of a consistency such as to allow unpressurised grout through a crack 4.5 mm wide by 25 mm long in the direction of flow of the grout; and, in the set grout, negligible shrinkage, water vapour absorbability sufficient to permit around a 10% weight change; an initial set time of less than 24 hours; and a 90 day strength of between 2.5 and 15 mPA. Such a grout may be customized for compatability with the masonry to be restored and may so differ in strength from it as to set up desirable stresses.
