ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process is provided for restoring an ore deposit after uranium solution mining using ammonium carbonate leaching solutions has ceased. The process involves flushing the deposit with an aqueous solution of a potassium salt during which potassium ions exchange with ammonium ions remaining in the deposit. The ammonium-containing flushing solution is withdrawn from the deposit for disposal.
