A restraint garment for securing a patient to a bed or a chair while providing to the patient limited movement allowing him or her to sit up or lie down. This garment has a rear body portion permanently connected to a front body portion, both extending from the neck of the patient down to his or her waist. The rear body portion has two detachable segments connected to each other by a zip fastener. The garment also has a bottom portion that extends over the patient's genitalia and buttock, with one end permanently connected to the front body portion and the other end detachably connected to the rear body portion by a snap fastener. The garment further has at least one and preferably two guiding straps extending from the top part of the rear body portion down to its waist edge. Finally, the garment has an adjustable attachment strap slidably mounted onto each guiding strap. Each attachment strap has one extremity detachably connectable to the other extremity by a clip fastener. This garment secures a patient to a bed or a chair while allowing him or her to sit up or lie down. Furthermore, this garment gives easy access for the nursing staff to the diaper that the patient may wear. Moreover, this garment can be easily and adjustably fitted on a patient and is comfortable to wear.
