ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: In a retainer ring for the coupling of water supply pipes, a piece of the ring is urged against a pipe by a push bolt which has an inclined engagement surface in forced engagement with a complementarily inclined engagement surface of a push bolt insertion hole. When the pipe experiences a force tending to dislocate it, the above- mentioned piece is turned such that a ridge-like edge formed at the bottom of the piece wedges into the pipe, thus preventing the pipe's dislocation. The bottom of the piece and also two ridge-like edges formed at the bottom have curved shapes conforming to the outer periphery of the pipe so that the two edges can be readily in close contact with the pipe's outer periphery. The piece in question is retained in a ring body by a retainer.
