ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A portable retainer wall unit for use in a trench or the like workplace is provided with pair of rigid, spaced apart walls and with transversely protruding suspension members for engaging ground to suspend the unit in the trench. The suspension members are preferably beams provided with ground engaging wheels to facilitate displacement of the unit and to improve accuracy of positioning the unit in a trench or the like.
