The invention concerns an arrangement for retaining a stub shaft (113) bearing (14) comprising a stop (117), a nut (121) and a braking part (124) preventing the nut (121) from rotating involuntarily. When the shaft (33) located in the cavity (12) is dismantled by being pulled towards the right, the braking part (124) can be reached, (124), removed, then the screw (121) loosened and be removed in turn: the stub shaft (113) is released and can be detached without having to dismount another stub shaft (34) located opposite the stub shaft (113) and the retaining arrangement. The stub shaft (113) can belong to a high pressure compressor of an aircraft engine gas turbine.
