An apparatus and method for securing a load carried on a trailer comprising a cargo net having a plurality of hook-and-loop fasteners attached along the edges of the cargo net, a plurality of brackets attached to the wall of the trailer, a strap which is woven through the mesh of the net and through the bracket loops and capable of being tightened. Each hook-and-loop fastener comprises a strip of hook-and-loop material which is looped and sewn along the edge of the net and then bent and sewn again, this time into a tab shape. The brackets are attached in a vertical orientation having their bottom end formed in the shape of a 'V'. The hook-and-loop fasteners are used to secure any excess cargo net. The cargo net has a guide line along the center of the net to assist the user in positioning the cargo net on the trailer, and a straight line approximately one foot from the edge of the one end of the net and going across the entire width of the net. The strap includes a blocker which prevents the buckle from passing through the bracket. The end of the strap is hardened by means of glue.
