A novel tie-back assembly is provided for erecting a retaining wall assembly having a plurality of face plates which interlock with tie-backs. The tie-back assembly includes a plurality of elongated metallic rods which are arranged in spaced, substantially-parallel fashion. A key member is operatively securely associated with forward ends of the rods, e.g., by being a key block member which is formed of a suitable casting material, which is cast at one end of the rods and which encloses a portion of the forward ends of the rods. At least one anchor member is arranged at a location which is spaced from the key member and which is operatively securely associated with each rod, e.g., by being an anchor block member which is formed of a suitable casting material, which is cast at a location which is spaced from the key block member and which encases a portion of each rod. The anchor member, e.g., the anchor block member, has an elongated body extending transverse to the longitudinal axis of the rods and is of a length which is greater than the separation distance of the rods. This structure stabilizes the tie-back assembly against twisting when arranged in a completed retainer wall assembly.
