-16- Abstract A vehicle having a load-carrying platform is equipped with a retractable cover assembly for protecting the load, which assembly comprises rails along the longitudinal side edges of the vehicle platform and a retractable arched framework collapsible along the length of the rails, which arched framework comprises arched sections articulated together by crossed arms to enable collapse of the framework, the arched sections having wheels which run on the rails as retraction takes place, and a flexible cover internally strapped to the individual framework sections of the arched framework, which cover folds up in concertina fashion when the framework is retracted, and tensioning devices being provided for tensioning the cover in its load-protecting position.
