RETRACTABLE ELECTRIC CORD REEL ASSEMBLY ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A retractable cord reel assembly for an electric cord comprises a mounting bracket having an axle extending there- from and a spool rotatably mounted on the axle. The spool has a hub, and the hub has a keyed opening extending axially into the hub. A cord retainer assembly receives one end of the electric cord which is adapted to be word on the spool for storage. The cord retainer assembly slides into the keyed opening to be lockingly retained therein. The cord retainer assembly, with attached cord, may be separately inventoried since the cord does not need to be connected to the spool when the cord reel is assembled or when the cord reel is mounted on the appliance or other device. The cord can be subsequently assembled with the cord reel assembly at a later time.
