ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A retractable goal post device is provided which com- prises telescoping upright sections which are retracted when not in use into a casing disposed below ground level. The cas- ing has a hinged top cover which is flush with the surface of the playing field when closed. To raise the goal posts the top cover is raised and the uprights extended to the desired height. The top cover may then be replaced if required. Upon completion of the play the cover is raised and the goal posts retracted to a stored position into the casing. The cover is then replaced so as to be flush with playing surface.
