RETRACTABLE GOLF CLUB STAND ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A retractable golf club stand is disclosed for keeping the grip of a golf club from coming into contact with the ground when the club is laid aside. The stand includes an anchor means, and a supporting means pivotally attached to the anchor means. Both portions are capable of insertion into the shaft of a golf club in a retractable manner. The arrangement is such that, once the anchor means and the supporting means have been inserted into the shaft of a golf club, the supporting means may be withdrawn and then angled away from the axis of the shaft while the anchor means remains substantially within the shaft. The golf club may subsequently be laid on the ground such that only the supporting means and the head of the golf club contact the ground.
