The invention provides an infor- mation retrieval system comprising: a) a dedicated single switch (4); b) receiv- ing means (b) responsive to manual ac- tuation of said single switch to receive coded information; c) means for decoding the coded information (3), and; d) means for preventing the decoded information (9) to a user. Thus, by actuation of a single switch, the information, for exam- ple advertising information, is received, decoded and presented to the user.
