A method and apparatus is provided for sealing a removable filter in a duct supply air to a forced air furnace. The duct has a slot-shaped aperture sized to allow a filter to be inserted through the aperture and into the duct so that the filter is positioned across a cross-sectional area of the duct. Once the filter is positioned inside the duct, a cover sized to completely cover the aperture is magnetically attached over the aperture, holding the filter in place and sealing the duct from the air surrounding duct and the forced air furnace.
