ABSTRACT A variable sized reusable diaper is disclosed which includes a waterproof outer shell and a removable reusable absorbent pad which unfolds when not in use for thorough washing and rapid drying and refolds for maximum absorbency during use. The diaper further includes elastically tensioned leg holes to prevent leakage of fluid waste around the legs, an elastically tensioned waist band for greater flexibility of fit and a substantially continuous velcro loop fastener band across the front of the waist so that a single diaper accommodates new born infants to toddler age. A larger version of the same diaper accommodates toddlers, the reusable insert being adapted for use in either diaper.
