ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a rewritable record display using a reversible heat-sensitive record medium, there are provided a rewrita- bly recording and erasing method and apparatus having a display contrast and maximum iterative number which are substantially similar to the limit at which the recording and erasing reactions can be carried out due to the physical or chemical change then the erasing voltage applied to the medium is ranged between 0.3 times and 0.9 times the record- ing voltage, the image formed on the medium can be complete- ly erased improving the maximum iterative number. In addi- tion, the use of dye other than the organic low-molecular substance showed the characteristics similar to those of the organic low-molecular dye.
