A surgical instrument comprises, in accordance with the present invention, an elongate probe, a sleeve, a sleeve extension and at least one cauterization electrode. The probe is an ultrasonic element, serving to convey ultrasonic vibrations (as standing waves) to organic tissues at a surgical site. The probe has a working tip and a longitudinal axis. The sleeve surrounds the probe with the working tip of the probe projecting from a distal or free end of the sleeve. The sleeve extension is disposed at the distal or free end of the sleeve and defines a multiplicity of apertures having respective axes oriented at least substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis. The electrode has a distal or free end removably inserted through one of the apertures.
L'invention concerne un instrument chirurgical comprenant, conformément à la présente invention, une sonde allongée, un manchon, un élément de prolongement de manchon et au moins une électrode de cautérisation. La sonde est un élément à ultrasons, servant à acheminer des vibrations ultrasonores (telles que des ondes stationnaires) vers des tissus organiques au niveau d'un site chirurgical. La sonde présente une pointe de travail et un axe longitudinal. Le manchon entoure la sonde, la pointe de travail de la sonde faisant saillie à partir d'une extrémité libre ou distale du manchon. L'élément de prolongement de manchon est disposé sur l'extrémité libre ou distale du manchon et définit une multiplicité d'ouvertures présentant des axes respectifs orientés au moins sensiblement parallèlement à l'axe longitudinal. L'électrode présente une extrémité libre ou distale insérée amovible dans l'une des ouvertures.
