An RF shielding device for a mobile telephone incorporated in a carry case for the telephone comprising a conductive inner layer (9) of the case at least partly surrounding at least part of the internal circuitry of the telephone and an extendible element in the form of a metal rod (11) having an end part in electrical sliding contact with the inner layer and extending from said end part through an outer layer of the case such that, when extended, it lies substantially parallel to and spaced from the antenna, and a capacitive element in the form of a ring (12) an the other end of the rod encircling but spaced from the telephone's antenna (10).
