2110601 9323891 PCTABS00028 An RF-transparent sunshield membrane (500') covers an antenna reflector (20) such as a parabolic dish. The membrane (500') includes at least two dielectric sheets (510, 530) of polyimide film 1 mil thick. The surface of the outer film (510) facing away from the reflector (20) is coated with an electrically semiconductive coating (512) such as vapor-deposited germanium having a thickness in the range of 200A to 600A. A member, such as a glass fiber mat (518), may be located in the space between the two dielectric sheets (510, 530) for maintaining the sheets (510, 530) in spaced-apart relationship. In another embodiment of the invention, the surface of the film (530) facing the reflector may be reinforced by an adhesively attached polyester or glass fiber mesh (534).
