A system (20) and method for the inspection of a pipeline (22) is disclosed. The system (20) is made up of a plurality of flexibly coupled modular units (24) configured to pass through the pipeline (22). One modular unit (24) is a tractor unit (40) configured to propel the system (20) through the pipeline (22). Another modular unit (24) is an RFT transmission unit (42) with an excitation coil (58) configured to excite a magnetic field (112) within the pipeline (22). A third modular unit (24) is an RFT reception unit (46) incorporating a pair of adjacent differentially connected reception coils (80) and a differential instrumentation amplifier (100) affixed to a rotational mount (78). A fourth modular unit (24) is a motor unit (44) incorporating a motor (66) which rotates the rotational mount (78). The pair of reception coils (80) detects the magnetic field (112) and produces a differential detection signal which is then amplified and analyzed. An electrical cable (106) is used to provide power and/or signals to/from the system.
La présente invention concerne un système (20) et un procédé d'examen de pipeline (22). Le système est constitué d'une pluralité de modules couplés de façon souple (24) configurés pour passer par le pipeline (22). L'un des modules (24) est un tracteur (40) configuré pour propulser le système (20) dans le pipeline (22). Un autre module est un émetteur de télémesure des champs (42) dont la bobine d'excitation (58) est configurée pour exciter un champ magnétique (112) là l'intérieur du pipeline (22). Un troisième module (24) est un récepteur de télémesure des champs (46) intégrant une paire de bobines de réception adjacentes (80) en montage différentiel, avec un amplificateur d'instrumentation différentielle (100) monté sur un châssis rotatif (78). Un quatrième module (24) est une unité motrice (44) comportant un moteur (66) qui fait tourner le châssis rotatif (78). La paire de bobines de réception (80) détecte le champ magnétique (112) est produit un signal de détection différentiel que l'on amplifie et analyse. Un câble électrique (106) permet les raccordements d'alimentation électrique et d'échanges de signaux.
