The present invention relates to a rhizobial inoculant composition comprising rhizobial bacteria, water and an aluminosilicate clay and a method for its preparation and use. The composition of the present invention is intended to inoculate legumes to stimulate root nodule formation and allow improved capacity for storage prior to use.
