45 SL 01311 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved mechanism is provided for circulating inked ribbon by means of friction rollers into and out of a cartridge where it is stored as a compact mass of ribbon folds. The mechanism prevents this mass of ribbon from being damaged or jammed when it leaves the rollers. The mechanism includes a movable stripper which frictionally engages the ribbon after passage through the friction rollers to move the ribbon away from the friction rollers. The movable stripper thus minimizes scuffing and rubbing action between the ribbon and the friction rollers.
