ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for preparing purified ribonuclease dimers is provided which comprise the steps of dimerizing monomeric ribonuclease with a suberimidate coupling reagent, filtering out undimerized monomers and oligomers from the dimer solution using a series of ion exchange resin chromatography steps, monitoring the progress of the reaction through gel electrophoresis, and collecting the purified ribonuclease dimer product. The method is advantageous in that large amounts of the dimeric product can be obtained efficiently and relatively inexpensively, and the ribonuclease dimers so produced can be employed for their beneficial effects in combatting viral and bacterial infections without the cytoxic effects normally associated with the ribonuclease monomer.

Un procédé de préparation de dimères de ribonucléase purifiés comprenant des étapes de dimérisation de ribonucléase monomère avec un réactant d'accouplement subérimidé, la séparation par filtrage des monomères et des oligmères non dimérisés de la solution dimère au moyen d'une série de procédés de chromatographie par résine à échange ionique, le contrôle de la progression de la réaction par électrophorèse de gel et la récupération du produit dimère de ribonucléase purifié.
