- 12 - ABSTRACT Ridge ventilating device. The ridge ventilating device comprises an external, outwardly curved ridge cover element provided in the apex region with an opening and an insert located in the cavity of the ridge cover element for collecting and draining outwards any penetrating precipitation, The insert comprises a central part arranged at a predetermined distance below the opening and lateral parts arranged in stepped manner thereto which, in the case of a certain projection over the central part, are arranged at a predeter- mined distance from one another. From the air space air passes through the gap, is laterally deflected and guided between the lateral parts and the central part and is then, following a further deflection above the central part, made to escape outwards via the cover element opening. Conversely penetrating precipitation is led from the central part to the lateral parts, from where it is passed into the bearing region of the cover element. A suction action is obtained in that the opening of the cover element is provided with a tear-away edge, Alternatively to this a spoiler cap is placed over the opening and leads to a venturi effect.
