27330-3 ABSTRACT A riffle bar for use in a riffle box. The riffle bar comprises a tubular element of square cross section having a series of apertures along two adjacent surfaces thereof and a flange extending from the intersecting edge of the other two ad- jacent surfaces. A series of such riffle bars are mounted in parallel on a rifle box with the flanges extending upwardly and the apertures facing downwardly. The tubular bars are connected to a source of water which flows through the apertures to prevent undesired accumulation of particles between adjacent bars.
