A rigid composite is disclosed comprising a polyester, phenolic, or polyamide resin matrix having embedded therein from about 50 to 90 percent, by weight, filaments of a p- aramid coated with from about 0.2 to 5 percent, by weight, of an adhesion modifier such that the composite exhibits improved ballistics performance.
