This low-cost circuit functions in conjunction with and improves the distinctive ring service provided by telephone companies. Distinctive ring service allows a primary telephone number and an additional telephone number share one telephone line. The additional number corresponds to a distinctive ring pattern different from the common one. This circuit controls the connection between the telephone line and the telephone subscriber equipment in the duration of every burst of ring signal on the basis of discriminating the pattern of the ring signal. Therefore, this circuit makes it achievable, that when either one of the two telephone numbers is dialed, only the subscriber equipments designated to that number ring, while the ones designated to the other number remain silent, although the two numbers share one telephone line. Another function of this circuit is busy-line indication. Furthermore, the power consumed by this circuit comes from the telephone line.
