4159-828 ABSTRACT An improved structure of a ring laser gyro for maintaining mirror alignment in the presence of forces per- pendicular to the lasing plane. The device comprises a ring laser gyro block having a bore at the center thereof. Within the bore there is positioned a ring having a diagonal slot therein with screws engaging opposite sides of the slot to allow it to be expanded to tightly engage the walls of the bore to provide a stiffening member. In addition the block is sandwiched between a pair of stiff cradles which lie in planes generally parallel to the lasing plane, and include stiffening ribs generally perpendicular to the lasing plane.
