ABSTRACT A laser gyro system having two counter-travelling beams is disclosed wherein the lock-in error in the gyro output is compensated by generating incremental error paramaters which are related to the instantaneous phase difference between the two counter-travelling beams, the parameters being applied to the output directly to reduce the error or being used in a control loop to indirectly reduce the error.
