An absorbent article for absorption of bodily fluids is provided, including a layer of non-absorbent material defining a tunnel shaped loop and a central portion enclosed by the loop, and an absorbent material retained within the tunnel-shaped loop. The non-absorbent material includes a plurality of apertures through which fluid can flow to reach the absorbent material, and an overwrap material overlies the non-absorbent material to transport fluid over the surface of non-absorbent material. Preferably the absorbent article is a tampon and the loop is ring shaped.

L'invention concerne un article absorbant conçu pour absorber les fluides corporels, doté d'une couche de matériau non absorbant définissant une boucle en forme de tunnel, une partie centrale entourée par ladite boucle et un matériau absorbant retenu à l'intérieur de ladite boucle en forme de tunnel. Le matériau non absorbant comporte plusieurs ouvertures par lesquelles le fluide peut passer pour atteindre le matériau absorbant, et un matériau de surenveloppe est prévu sur le matériau non absorbant pour transporter le fluide sur la surface du matériau non absorbant. De préférence, l'article absorbant est un tampon et la boucle est de forme annulaire.
